Play Time

I can say with most certainty that many Minnesotans complain about the weather year round. Not this miniature Minnesotan. She wakes up every morning and comments about how beautiful the day is, no matter what. She loves the cold, the snow, and the ice! I am so grateful for this little wise one in my life every day.

Etsy Update!

I’ve been having a stupendous time working on my Etsy store! Just a quick reminder to please stay tuned for a grand opening celebration announcement!

In addition to the sneak preview of several of the products I will be offering in my shop (lots more will be available soon), I am going to give you some bits and pieces of information about the store and the products that I am offering.

Jessica Wood {Fine Paper Goods} focuses on bright, cheerful and uplifting designs. If you’ve followed my blog you know that I LOVE all things flora and fauna. My work is almost always inspired by Mother Nature. Every single design in my shop is completely unique and original to Jessica Wood. You will never find “clip art” or “cookie cutter" designs in my shop. I also always print on high quality, archival, acid-free (recycled when available) papers that emphasize the beautiful colors in my designs and will maintain their good looks for years to come.

Every one of my designs begins as a sketch in a favorite journal and then slowly evolves into a complete and cohesive piece that is intended to brighten someone’s day. I am thrilled that I get to share my designs with the world and always grateful to the people in my life that support me on my creative journey!

January

January in Minneapolis is rather predictable. It’s impossible to go outside without a warm coat (and if you are me, moose hide boots.) The snow outside my front door is piled almost as high as my preschooler is tall. We’ve been spending most of our time indoors, but do attempt to play outside a little every day. The days are slowly starting to get longer and I am quickly becoming more and more deprived of vitamin D.
Since we’ve been doing a bit of hibernating, I’ve been undertaking some new tasks that have become quite meaningful. I learned to knit, albeit I am still quite the amateur (thanks mama-in-law for teaching me). Minneapolis in January could quite possibly be the world’s most perfect place and month to practice the slow, methodical and meditative process of knitting. I also was gifted a wonderful book, Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day, (double thanks mama-in-law) that has been a tasty addition to our daily rhythm around my little house. Seriously, who could have guessed that bread could be so easy to make, nutritious and yummy?
Here is a peak at what January looked like in my home today.
