January


January in Minneapolis is rather predictable. It’s impossible to go outside without a warm coat (and if you are me, moose hide boots.) The snow outside my front door is piled almost as high as my preschooler is tall. We’ve been spending most of our time indoors, but do attempt to play outside a little every day. The days are slowly starting to get longer and I am quickly becoming more and more deprived of vitamin D.
Since we’ve been doing a bit of hibernating, I’ve been undertaking some new tasks that have become quite meaningful. I learned to knit, albeit I am still quite the amateur (thanks mama-in-law for teaching me). Minneapolis in January could quite possibly be the world’s most perfect place and month to practice the slow, methodical and meditative process of knitting. I also was gifted a wonderful book, Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day, (double thanks mama-in-law) that has been a tasty addition to our daily rhythm around my little house. Seriously, who could have guessed that bread could be so easy to make, nutritious and yummy?
